Understanding Montgomery County Releases
“Released” must name both the place left and the status that followed. A person may leave Montgomery County Regional Jail for the community after bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, probation, sentence expiration, or another lawful order. The same person may instead leave that building for another jail, a Kentucky Department of Corrections placement, court or medical custody, or federal or immigration control. That is a transfer, not proof of return to the community.

Montgomery County Release Record Fields
A useful record answers who left, which facility released or transferred that person, when the event occurred, what authority supported it, and what status followed. For a local stay, request the booking-and-release record or jail card. For a state offender, Kentucky's dated Daily Releases report supplies a separate event record. Its columns include DOC number, name, Type of Release, Released From, and Highest Felony Class.

State reports use precise phrases such as “Discharged - Minimum Expiration,” “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State,” and “Shock Probation Began - In State.” Those phrases are not interchangeable. A supervision event does not mean all correctional obligations ended.

Kentucky records law does not require an office to create an explanation or calculate a result. Ask for named fields already kept in the record. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, safety-sensitive, and protected personal material may be withheld. If an expected result is absent, do not assume expungement occurred.
Keep the jail request separate from any Sheriff record. The Sheriff's Office may hold an incident, arrest, or investigative file tied to an event, but that does not mean it holds the jail custody ledger. A narrow request may reduce delay. If release confirmation is the goal, ask first for release date, release time, disposition, and destination. Add the full jail card or booking photograph only when those existing records are needed. Montgomery County Release Record Law
The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, supplies the general request framework. Access remains record-specific. Kentucky jail standards also require written documentation of the time, purpose, date, and authority for release or removal and the custody recipient, with property return documented by receipt. The exact governing rule depends on facility type.
No official local roster-retention period was found. Kentucky DOC's long-running Daily Releases archive demonstrates that those state reports have historical online availability, but it does not create a universal retention term for local jail records. The Kentucky Corrections retention schedule describes specific state series, not every modern jail field. Sealing and expungement can change court access, while jail, court, and DOC systems may follow different rules and update cycles.
KRS 197.170 creates a separate state-prison release-notice process for named officials and qualifying victims. It requires specified notice information and limited agency retention, but it does not create an unrestricted public online list of release addresses. A public search and an agency's complete file may therefore differ. Ask only for releasable parts of an existing record, and treat a lawful redaction as distinct from proof that no release occurred.
Montgomery County Release Logistics
The official local channels publish no release-processing hours, public exit, property-return instructions, family waiting area, or weekend and holiday schedule. The time on a court order therefore cannot be treated as the time someone walked out. Another case, hold, transport step, or routine processing may intervene.
Call the jail at 859-498-8747 before arranging pickup or travel. Ask for current public instructions about timing, pickup location, property, and whether the person is leaving for the community or another custodian. No local transportation service or gate-money policy was verified. Practices from another Kentucky jail should not be imported into Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Bond Release Timing
Montgomery County publishes no local bond schedule or pretrial-release processing timetable in the sources reviewed. A public docket can confirm what a judge ordered, including a bond change, dismissal, sentence, or time-served decision. It cannot by itself certify the later physical exit from the jail.

Start with the custody system that last held the person. Montgomery County has no verified local rolling release feed, so the facility-specific JailTracker roster is only a current-status check. A missing result needs a second record.

Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, or KOOL, applies to DOC offenders, including some sentenced felons housed in a county jail. It is not a complete archive of Montgomery County bond-outs or short local bookings. Search by DOC or PID number when possible. With a name search, compare middle name, age, photograph, conviction county, offenses, and other identifiers.

The official KOOL gateway says information is updated daily, does not guarantee complete accuracy, and warns that data newer than 120 days may not be finalized.
That 120-day notice concerns data finalization. It is not a Montgomery County roster-retention period. Confirm an actual state event in the KDOC Daily Releases archive.
Montgomery County Recent Release Search
The official-channel sweep found no Montgomery County Regional Jail 24-hour or 72-hour recent-release page. It covered the current and archived jail domains, the direct JailTracker address, Fiscal Court, the Sheriff, and natural release-list terms. Similar pages for Montgomery counties in other states are not Kentucky sources.
KDOC's dated archive can include a state offender released from Montgomery County Jail. An October 27, 2025 report, for example, identifies Montgomery County Jail as the releasing facility for a DOC event. That proves a state-report path exists. It does not mean the archive covers every local bond, dismissal, pretrial release, or short stay. For those events, use the jail record, court record, and VINE.
Montgomery Post-Release Supervision
Montgomery County belongs to Kentucky DOC Probation and Parole District 8 and Reentry Region 6. Parole is conditional community release before sentence completion. Probation is a court-ordered community sentence. Mandatory reentry supervision and conditional discharge are other statuses that can continue after confinement ends.

Montgomery Release Alerts and Federal Records
Kentucky VINELink and the state VINE line at 1-800-511-1670 can report custody status and support notifications. VINE is useful when monitoring a known person, but it is not a certified discharge record. Confirm an alert with the jail or correctional record. Federal custody is separate. The BOP Inmate Locator searches by federal register number or identifying details and generally covers federal inmates released after 1982. It may show a release date or that someone is released or not in BOP custody.
The BOP result does not establish a county-jail release. The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers a separate civil immigration system and may omit recent, transferred, released, under-18, or biographically mismatched records. County-roster disappearance after a detainer is not proof of community return.

Identity checks matter at every stage. A common name or alias can connect the wrong jail entry, court case, or KOOL profile. Compare a birth date, middle name, suffix, booking or DOC number, photograph when available, case details, and the relevant date range. If identifiers disagree, describe the conflict and seek the source record instead of choosing the convenient result.
Montgomery County Release Systems
Montgomery County Regional Jail is the verified local adult facility. No adult KDOC prison, federal prison, or ICE detention center was identified inside Montgomery County. State and federal systems still matter because a person may transfer out of the local jail or serve a sentence elsewhere.
The sentencing county does not predict a state prison placement. Once Kentucky DOC takes authority, the local roster is no longer the primary source. Use the system tied to the new custodian and confirm any later release there.
