Montgomery Projected Versus Actual Release
A projected date is a sentence calculation, not proof that a person walked out. Kentucky records use several labels. KOOL can show “Expected Time To Serve (TTS),” “Minimum Expiration of Sentence Date (Good Time Release Date),” “Parole Eligibility Date,” and “Maximum Expiration of Sentence Date.” Each answers a different question. Parole eligibility marks when review may occur. It is not a parole grant. Minimum and maximum expiration dates mark different sentence limits.
Pretrial custody works differently. A person awaiting disposition at Montgomery County Regional Jail does not have a sentence-based projected date. A judge may set bond or enter a release order, yet physical departure can wait for processing or be blocked by another case, warrant, or detainer. A detainer is another authority's request to hold or receive the person. Transfer under a detainer is not release home.
Actual release records identify the date, time, releasing facility, event type, and resulting status. That distinction matters because “released from Montgomery County Regional Jail” may mean only that the person left that building. The next status might be community return, DOC custody, another jail, or federal custody.
Find Montgomery Projected Release Dates
First identify who holds authority. A state prisoner or state felon housed in a local jail is checked through Kentucky Offender Online Lookup. A short local sentence or pretrial booking requires the jail and court record. A federal sentence requires the BOP locator. One locator cannot answer for all systems.
- Search KOOL by DOC or PID number when available. A name search needs extra identity checks.
- Open the full record and copy the exact date label, value, status, and calculation date.
- Compare the full name, aliases, photograph, age, offense, county, and identifier.
- For local custody, ask the jail for the existing release calculation or release record and obtain the court judgment.
- After the expected date, check DOC Daily Releases, VINE, or the facility to confirm what occurred.
The official KOOL gateway says updates are made daily, does not guarantee all information's accuracy, and warns that newer offender data may not be finalized. Those limits belong beside the date. Searchers should record when the result was checked and avoid treating an old screenshot as a current calculation.
The Montgomery County released-inmate search covers the separate jail release sheet and court-order path. Those records can explain why a projected date and an actual exit differ.
Kentucky Credits Shape Montgomery Release
Kentucky sentence calculations can include statutory good-time and program credits, but the rule depends on the sentence and offender classification. Good time is credit that may reduce time to a sentence milestone when the person remains eligible. It is not a flat discount that can be safely calculated from the sentence length alone. Jail credit for time already served, later sentence changes, and concurrent or consecutive terms can also alter the result.
KRS Chapter 197 contains correctional rules, while sentencing and parole rules appear in Chapters 439, 441, 532, and 533. Certain violent-offender rules restrict parole eligibility and require service of a large portion of the sentence before eligibility. That eligibility rule still does not dictate the exact exit date because the Board can deny parole and other holds can continue custody.
Kentucky's mandatory reentry law, KRS 439.3406, may place an eligible person on supervision before projected completion, subject to listed exceptions. The statute treats that release as parole. Supervision then continues until minimum expiration, unless a violation or other event changes the status. A displayed supervision office thus can coexist with an active sentence.
Note: No Montgomery County local formula or fixed weekend-release adjustment was found, so do not import a calculation used by another jail.
Why Montgomery Release Dates Change
Dates change when the facts used in a sentence calculation change. A new court order can amend a term or credit. Earned credit may be added, while disciplinary action may affect credit. Parole can create a community release before sentence expiration, but a denial leaves the custody calculation in place. A new warrant, sentence, or detainer may prevent release to the community even when one term reaches a milestone.
| Change | Effect on the release record |
|---|---|
| Jail or sentence credit | May move an expiration calculation after credit is verified |
| Earned or good-time credit | May reduce a qualifying sentence milestone |
| Disciplinary credit loss | May move a projected date later |
| Court order or new sentence | Can replace the legal basis used in the prior calculation |
| Parole action | May authorize conditional community release before expiration |
| Detainer or warrant | May send the person to another custodian instead of home |
| Revocation | May return a supervised person to custody |
Mandatory reentry can also change after eligibility review. The statute lists exceptions, including several offense, classification, sentence-length, and prior-release circumstances. A projected completion date does not prove that mandatory reentry will occur. Only the resulting official action establishes that path.
Confirm Montgomery Actual Release Dates
After the projected day, look for an event record. KDOC Daily Releases reports show DOC number, name, type of release, releasing facility, and highest felony class. An entry such as “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State” documents a different result from “Discharged - Minimum Expiration.” Preserve the full phrase. The archive covers DOC-reportable events, including some state offenders released from a county jail, but not every local bond-out or pretrial exit.
VINE supplies another event signal. Registering through the Montgomery County VINE check can produce an alert for a reported release or transfer. The alert must still be paired with the holding agency's record, especially when timing or destination matters. For a local booking, ask Montgomery County Regional Jail for the release date, time, disposition, and recorded destination if public.
A court order explains legal authority. It may show bond, dismissal, probation, sentence, or another action, but it may precede the physical exit. Obtain the docket and order from the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk, then ask the jail whether processing or another hold affected departure. This two-record check is stronger than roster disappearance.
Montgomery County and DOC Dates
Montgomery County Regional Jail and Kentucky DOC maintain different layers. The local jail records admission, removal, release authority, time, purpose, and the person or authority receiving custody. KOOL publishes state offender and sentence information. Daily Releases documents selected completed DOC events. A person can appear in both systems when a state felon is housed locally.
Use the local record for the physical Montgomery County Jail exit. Use KOOL for the state sentence calculation. Use the DOC event report for a completed state release type. When the records conflict, provide the check times and request the existing final sentence-calculation sheet or release record. Do not ask an office to create a new explanation of the calculation.
KOOL's date filters can help locate records by a projected range, but the full profile remains essential. A result-row date without its label and current status is easy to misread. Save the DOC number, open the detail, and distinguish a parole eligibility date from minimum or maximum expiration. If the record shows a community supervision office, describe the person as under supervision rather than in secure custody.
Kentucky Weekend Release Date Rule
Kentucky's first-of-month rule is narrow. KRS 197.175 permits the DOC commissioner to release prisoners on the first day of the month in which their sentences expire. When that first day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, release may occur on the last weekday of the prior month. The law concerns DOC prisoners. It does not set a broad Friday-release rule for every Montgomery County detainee.
Check the date against the official DOC Daily Releases report. A preceding-weekday entry can confirm the completed event and its exact type. Do not shift a projected date on a calendar and call the result final. Local bond processing, court orders, holds, and county jail procedures follow different paths, and no Montgomery County weekend processing schedule was found.
Request Montgomery Release Calculations
When the public display does not resolve a date, request an existing record rather than a new calculation. For a state offender, identify the full name, date of birth or DOC number, approximate date, and facility. Ask for the final sentence-calculation sheet, release certificate, or release and discharge record. Kentucky DOC accepts written requests through correctionsopenrecords@ky.gov and by mail through its Open Records Coordinator.
KDOC charges ten cents per released paper page. It lists separate media and postage costs for records delivered on disc or USB. Under KRS 197.025, the department responds within five days after receipt, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. The response may grant inspection, deny access with a basis, or explain that the record is unavailable and when it is expected. The period is not a guarantee of final delivery.
For a local Montgomery County booking, direct the request to the jail custodian. Ask for the existing booking-and-release record, the time and authority for release or removal, the release disposition, and the destination or receiving custodian field if public. Kentucky jail standards require a written record of release or removal, but no Montgomery-specific online retention period was found. Do not claim that the current roster keeps released names for a fixed number of hours.
Court records should be requested separately. The judgment and later orders can establish the sentence, jail credit, probation, or a change affecting custody. The clerk should not be asked to certify the physical exit unless that fact is in a court record. Conversely, the jail should not be expected to produce the full judicial case merely because a court order caused release.
Read Montgomery Release Date Labels
Date labels should never be collapsed into one “release date.” Expected time to serve is a computed measure. A good-time release date reflects a minimum-expiration calculation. Parole eligibility marks when parole consideration can become possible. Maximum expiration marks the outer sentence point shown by the current calculation. A Daily Releases date, by contrast, belongs to a completed DOC event report.
Record the label, value, source, and check time together. That practice preserves changes and prevents a future projection from being cited as an event. If KOOL later updates, the earlier check remains understandable. If a court amends the judgment, obtain the new order rather than trying to reverse-engineer the change from two screenshots.
Sentence calculations can be complex. Public sources permit a careful lookup, but they do not support a promise about the hour of exit. Montgomery County did not publish a local processing timetable, weekend rule, or gate schedule in the reviewed channels. Call the holding facility before relying on travel or pickup plans.
